Business Talent stream (subclass 132a)

This visa is for experienced business owners, to operate a new or existing business in Australia.

You will be able to:

  • establish a new or develop an existing business in Australia
  • stay in Australia permanently
  • bring family members with you

  • You must demonstrate a history of significant business success
  • You must be nominated by an Australian State or Territory government agency

    • Eligibility

    • You must be younger than 55 years of age (without exception)
    • You must be able to demonstrate business acumen and ambition: an overall successful business career, a genuine desire to own and manage a business in Australia
    • You must own a substantial part of the business: ownership interest in one or more qualifying businesses in which your net value was at least AUD400,000, or at least 10 percent of the total issued capital if the qualifying business is a publicly listed company
    • You must have total net assets worth AUD1.5 million or more
    • Your total annual turnover must be at least AUD3 million: from at least 1 business and no more than 2 businesses, for at least 2 of the 4 fiscal years immediately before you were invited to apply for this visa
    • You must have total net assets worth AUD400,000 or more
    • You must have a functional level of English - equivalent of IELTS Full Band 4.5
    • You must have been nominated for this visa by an Australian state or territory government agency

    Business Innovation stream (subclass 188a)

    This provisional visa is for people with business skills. It lets you operate a new or existing business in Australia.

    You will be able to:

    • operate a new or existing business in Australia
    • bring eligible members of your family with you
    • apply for permanent residence (visa subclass 888)
    StayUp to 4 years and 3 months.

  • You must be nominated by an Australian State or Territory government agency

    • Eligibility

    • You must be younger than 55 years of age (without exception)
    • You must score at least 65 points on the points test, factors include: age, English language ability, qualifications, business experience, net personal and business assets, business turnover, innovation, special endorsement
    • You must have business ownership: for 2 out of 4 fiscal years immediately before you receive an invitation to apply, you must have had an ownership stake in 1 or 2 businesses that had at least AUD500,000 turnover in each of those 2 years
    • You must have a successful business career and a genuine desire to continuously own and manage a business in Australia
    • You must have a functional level of English - equivalent of IELTS Full Band 4.5
    • You must have been nominated for this visa by an Australian state or territory government agency

    Investor stream (subclass 188b)

    This provisional visa requires you to invest at least AUD1.5 million in an Australian State or Territory and maintain business or investment activity in Australia.

    You will be able to:

    • carry out business and investment activity in Australia
    • bring eligible members of your family with you
    • apply for permanent residence (visa subclass 888)
    Stay4 years and 3 months.
    Processing time25-30 months on average.
  • You must invest AUD1.5 million in an Australian State or Territory
  • You must be nominated by an Australian State or Territory government agency

    • Eligibility

    • You must be under 55 years old
    • You must have managed a qualifying business or investments to the value of at least AUD1.5million
    • You must have assets of AUD2.25 million
    • You must make an investment of AUD1.5 million in your nominating State or Territory
    • You must score at least 65 points on the points test, factors include: age, English language ability, qualifications, business experience, net personal and business assets, business turnover, innovation, special endorsement
    • You must have the right experience: at least 3 years' experience managing one or more qualifying businesses or eligible investments, a successful record of eligible investment or qualifying business activity, a high level of management skill in relation to the eligible investment or qualifying business activity
    • You must have a functional level of English - equivalent of IELTS Full Band 4.5
    • You must have been nominated for this visa by an Australian state or territory government agency

    Entrepreneur stream (subclass 188e)

    • You must have one or more legally enforceable agreements to receive funding with a total of at least AUD200,000. The funding must be from one of the following entities: Commonwealth Government agency, State or Territory government agency, Publicly funded research or innovation organization, Higher education provider specified as a Table A or Table B provider under Part 2-1 of the Higher Education Support Act 2003, Investor registered as an Australian Venture Capital Limited Partnership or Early Stage Venture Capital Limited Partnership
    • You must have a competent level of English - equivalent of IELTS Full Band 6.0
